Electric Windows '85 GSLSE

The glass on my SE "jumps" off the regulator or it gets out of position. I suspect I need a new regulator. If that's the case, how in the world do you install it. I went into the door yesterday and was a bit intimidated by it. How do you disconnect the glass from the regulator?

Use the search button in the top right corner of the screen. We had a guy that does this for a living educate us on the pitfalls and problems w/electric windows in an earlier thread. There was a lot of input, too. Well worth the search....

The glass is atached at the bottom with 2 screws. Id say get a Haynes manual too It helps a bunch. Lining up the reg. is a bitch!

You can fix it without a whole lot of trouble... I think.
I had a prob with the 'X' mechanism for lifting the window evenly on both front and rear. one part of the x is solid, and the other has a crimped pivot in the middle. Think you can see the prob here. All you need to do is remove the mechanism and use a nail or something to hold that pivot in place.
If I was doing mine again now i'd weld it, but it's holding fine so far.

Hope this helps.

make that a nail to beat the pivot back in place....
just make sure it's straight before you dent it into place
