electric supercharger 16 bucks

hey, check this out.

http://www.esuperchargers.com/

For the price, it couldn't hurt, right? It's obviously a real company and not some marine blower.

Ok, I'm playing devil's advocate here, so don't flame me here. I'm just trying to think logically about this.

The "Turbo Zet" has itty bitty fans that would barely blow my nut hair from 6 inches away. I'm looking at this other one with a much larger motor and fan.

Yes, I read that article, but I'm still thinking that this particular supercharger could help out... probably not at top end, but definitely at the low/mid range.

I find it funny that there's an FD at the top of that page...

Don't they know it has two REAL turbochargers?

Umm, that new turbo is only like $15, but they don't mention that you need an upgraded headgasket and that you need to adjust your valve timing by 13 degrees if you run it on an RX-7... Don't worry though... 13 degrees just means you need to slip the timing belt on the cam sprocket by one tooth in a clockwise direction.

In short... That's a rip off.

oh, and going back to look at it... the person who wrote that article had flawed information.

Sure, the screw type supercharger is going to require a lot more power to run. They should have been looking at how much power it takes to run the centrifugal supercharger or a turbo. something with a similar design. Not only were they looking at the screw type, but they were also looking at making 11.5 psi!!! The product I'm looking at here is only advertising 2 psi. (better than nothing) I think if we can measure the output of this electric supercharger and test to see if it actually creates pressure, then it may actually be good.

I have contacted the company to get CFM ratings on this unit.

Remember... Not only does it have to produce 2 lbs of boost, but it also has to do it including the engine vacuum...

I'd say that fan would put out 2 lbs of straight up air, but not with engien vacuum.

From a Very similar thread over at Mazspeed.

I seriously doubt that a small electrical blower would blow more CFM than a rotary engine, especially at high rpm's.

A rotary IS a big air pump in itself.

Also to blow enough CFM's with positive displacement, or boost is a whole other matter completely.

Keep it for your boat, and out of the RX-7's engine compartment.

DF hit it on the head. While the leaf blower has tons of cfm, it doesnt produce psi. Every leaf blower ive used I have seen this problem. you block the output of the leaf blower all it does is freely spin its wheel(made to move air not compress), it does not increase pressure therefore it has no abilit to 'force' air into the combustion chamber.

it doesn't go into the engine because of the little screen behind it... Hopefully, right?

Me, if I got one, I'd mount it in front of the air cleaner... leave the K&N I have in there.

Based on the review, it sounds like it would be more effective as a replacement vent fan than as a supercharger...

What a POS! As P.T. Barnum used to say....

Those things are a complete ****. It's just a fan for god's sake.

There actually are real electric superchargers that use a proper centrifugal compressor and produce up to 6psi. Gains are probably offset though by the power it must take to run the damn thing.

you'd be better off hooking your air pump (if you have one) to the engine. Either way it's like making the engine inhale through a straw.

Altough I laugh when they say it makes 2lbs of boost, and even more when they show the dyno..... that has the exact same torque curve ****** up, like they just changed somthing on the dyno, and ran it again, I can't help but wonder if it might help overcome the slight pressure loss that comes from the resistance caused by the air filter.....

actually, i think it'd slow the air down. i mean, air's coming thru at a higher rate than the fan can deliver already. but a fan can't COMPRESS air. if you want real horsepower, use my setup. i've got one of those electric fans set up under my seat, and it leads to the intake. this by itself does nothing, but after a quick trip to taco bell, i'm sending pure methane down the intake!

....

or not. anyway, if you'd buy that, i've got a cell phone booster that goes under the battery that i'll sell you, and some swampland in the mojave i'm getting rid of. oh yeah, and a couple of bridges... did i mention i own microsoft? anyone wanna buy it? i'll cut ya a deal for being rotary brethern!

Yeap, that thing is like the cow magnets on fuel lines, the "tornado", and other halarious gimicks. I laugh everytime they advertise them. Same thing for many fuel additives and oil additives that are supposed to increase hp dramatically. Many are gimicks, only a few are what they advertise.

Put me down for a half acre of swamp land, a small bridge (Nothing fancy... No golden gate, maybe Brooklyn bridge would be nice...), and sure, I'll take Microsoft off your hands too... How much is shipping to 22306?

You'll still have to pay for shipping.
