Question Electric Mystery

Ok driving home from work, all of a sudden i hear a vibrating buzzing sound comming from the left side, under my stearing wheel, where the ECU is. Every time i hit a bump, hit the brakes or sharply turn i hear it, very noticiable. Sounds almost like a ripped speaker. I traced the sounds just by rocking the car back and fourth in my driveway with the key turned to ACC, to some small cubic box(about 1.5 inches x 1.5 inches) there is a clip attached to it, the clip has 8 slots, and the wires attached are mostly blue, and red, with 2 black wires. I simply unplugged it and the sound went away and vibration stopped, I'm not sure what it is or what will happen because i dissconnected it. My guess is that it's a harness for the stock amplifiers under the drivers seat, and in the drivers storage bins. I have no clue though, Haynes says nothing about it. I did just cut my amplifier wires about 2 days ago.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Matt.

What did the black wires have at the end? Was it a din-type connector? If you detail the wires some more I might be able to help

Isn't the ECU under the passenger footwell, and not under the steering wheel?

Off hand, I would guess that there might be a relay in there that has died.
Bad relays will make a buzzing noise.
