Electric Fan problems

I am in the process of wiring my electric fan I got from the junkyard off a 91 Sable.
I have the fan wired with a relay, that's no problem. My problem is with fitment, I can't seem to fit the fan between the rad and the waterpump pulley (clutch fun connection)

Is there any way to remove the clutch fan connection from the water pump pulley?

Here are some pictures to illustrate my problem

Trying to fit the fan in, right side first and look I only need 1/4" space;

Here is the mighty 2 speed fan

Please help me with suggestions

It bolts on, right? Take it off and then shorten all the bolts so they don't hit the water pump snout when you use them to bolt just the pulley back on...

ps. If you find this a challenging task, I have four already done off a spare engine in my garage for the water pump pulley...just pay shipping and they're yours but it's really not a hard task....

ditto: use shorter bolts to get rid of the aluminum piece.
