Eek! An oil leak!

I stopped my 83GS, and some wisps of blue smoke came from underneath on the driver side! Looking under the hood I see some fresh oil on the fixture just aft of the top rear sparkplug; under the oil cooler. Is this a common problem? What needs to be replaced?

This is a very common problem with the 1st Gen's with the water/oil cooler. Your o-rings as part of the oil cooler assembly have probably given up. It's easy to fix, all you need is some time and four oil O-rings. I would suggest replacing the heater hoses in that area while you're at it.

Call Mazdatrix or visit their website. They can set you up with all the parts you need. http://www.mazdatrix.com.

Good luck!

Thanks, inittab. Figured it might be worse. Replaced all the hoses last summer, they probably disintegrated from the oil.
