Is it into where the control arms attach? if it is then it is better to junk it. It can be fixed But I would not want to pay the cost of haveing someone do it.
My buddys dad fixed one with 1/4 " plate But it only held for 5 more years before it rusted out fully.

As lnog as they remove and replace ALL the affected metal, you'll be fine. I've had good luck finding good shops to repair rust, but then they do it as a sort of loss leader for all the other work I bring them...
i believe if you get it done professionally, you should then get the anti-rust coating like what most new cars have to it won't happen again the 2nd time.
either that or just don't drive your car in the rain/snow

damn thats gotta hurt...thats a hell of alot of rust and ****...wow...good luck with that I suggest that you sand blast it...buy this special stuff that turns the remaining rust into an alloy...grind it smooth and weld a piece of steel there and rust treat the hell out of it to prevent that again...but I would agree that if its rusted too bad by the supports it might be better to junk it...good luck you'll need it...
definetaly recoverable if you can do it yourself, but its going to be a pain in the *** and a lot of grinding, cutting.. i've got to do the same to my car on the drivers side its fairly rusted, but not as bad as that..

Yeah! Don't grind anything, you have to cut it out. I had rust in mine too. Cut out everything then brought it to a shop for the metal work. $400 for repairs. Also put like 4 layers of undercoating on when your done, inside and out. The get the spray antirust stuff, the company rhar makes Navel Jel;y sells it. My site has pics of the whole process.
