Thumbs up Edelbrock Carb update

Pele (or maybe P.J., I'm not sure who) mentioned using connected secondaries to cure topend richness; modded my 1" 4-hole spacer and swapped it for my present 2"-er. Now revs past 8000 clean (and still climbing!) but most of the power is above 6000; will juggle jets to check for possible leaness/more midrange. Thanks, guys!!!

Also BOGS badly under 4000, even in 2nd... remember I'd jammed the airvalves almost open; way too much airflow from the secondaries now. Am going to experiment with drilling the airvalve counterweights to see if I can kill the bog. Will also try to mod the 2" spacer with a smoother transition 'tween the two for cleaner airflow.

The "off-road" spring loaded valves helped some of the g-related bogging/surging; no longer spits when I turn slow speed/light throttle corners and seems to have helped the hard stopping stall problem (but not entirely, might need to add the dash-pot off my old Nikki to solve it...!). Will have to wait for the next autocross to see if it helps at high-g's.

Swapped the vaccum advance from part-time (ported) to full-time (direct); like swapping in a 13B up to 3000rpm! BIG difference in low end power. Seems to be getting better mileage too but not sure yet. It also brought the slow corner bog back!! Guess the lower idle setting with full advance drops the plate down the idle transfer slot...will have to convert back for autocrossing.

Thanks again for all the suggestions/help; nice to be a part of such an intellegent community.

Sanspistons, sansvalves, sanscams, sanshair....

Do you have any hood clearance problems with the 2 inch spacer?

Wherabout in Louisiana do you live, I live in Mandeville. I would like to see your edelbrock setup, even though i'm a holley guy.

mwatson, I'm running a mid-'80's T-bird V-6 air cleaner assembly; the lowest I could find to fit the 5-1/8" 4-barrel pattern and, yes, it still touches the inner hood brace in a least 3 places. But not badly enought to hurt anything yet; I need to modify (read as sledgehammer!) the brace a little...
I also have a Ford/Holley 4-hole spacer gasket under the carb for insulation. Thank God the motor mounts are original or it wouldn't fit at all!! Was thinking about combining the two spacers for more midrange but I'm maxed out in hood clearance now. The 97-up Grand Cherokee V-8's have a remote 4-barrel pattern adapter that's only 1 1/2" high but they're impossible to find in junk yards and around $100 new...

Since the RB manifold seems to be designed for 9500rpm drag racing I've though of adding a spacer between the engine and manifold.....

I'm in the Baton Rouge area. I sometimes run Delta events at Zephyr field; Belle Chase is too damn far away.
