ECU problems

Hey, i have a 84 SE and i am pretty sure the ECU is dead. none of the plugs have spark. Is it possible to use a second gen ECU in my SE? I can get a second gen ECU fairly easily but getting a first gen SE ECU will be a lot more difficult...

Thanks,

Nathan

the spark isnt controled by the ecu its emissions and fuel only.

i would start with the coils and make my through to the ignitors and the dizzy.
also chk the fusable links, i its a brown block on the driver side strut tower with 5 wires looped over from 1 side to the other
