ECU problem?

So i just bought a gsl se and It's giving me hell. The car cranks and wants to star but just won't budge. We went threw all the possibilities and we're still confused. BUT, when we opened up the ECU, there was all this white stuff all over it. Seems like corrosion from humidty. Here's a picture of the ecu. COuld this be the problem???? We checked all the wires and everything is good. We have spark and fuel is being delivered. The fuses are all good, any other ideas? The white stuff is all over the chips. Could electricity not be circulating properly?

Unless you got water into the ECU then it is probably ok. The Se can be a bitch at times to figure out. I know because I have owned them for many years. Was this a non-running car when you picked it up?

I warn you, I am going to ask 1-2 questions at a time, lol.

It wasnt running when I picked it up. Everything was disconnected when I picked it up. I think the ecu was water damaged bc all that white stuff is all over the tiny metal dots inside the ecu. The chips inside are also covered with this white stuff.

You can either go thru the complete test procedure that includes a specific pin test at the ECU or buy a ECU from kimsfb and put it in a see what happens. Do the plugs have any indication of flooding on them? Also check to see if the coolant temp sensor is plugged in at the back of the water pump housing. Also verify the engine fuse is good and the injector fusable links are good.

Kim would of sold you hers for much less and she is in your neck of the woods.

The pin test is a test where you test the contacts at the back of the ECU for specific values such as voltage and proper grounds. It's in the FSM and the haynes manual. I would just throw the ECU that you are getting in and see what happens.
Of course the other things I mentioned are very easy and would only take a few minutes to verify. All except the ECU test that is.

^ He has spark and he has fuel, that eliminates the ignitors.
