had brembo drilled and slotted rotors with performance friction semi metallic pads on the blue rx7 from 1995 to 2000. a few auto-x and about 8 track days. the drilled holes started cracking around 1999. great braking system.

after the hawk blues went on more and longer cracks showed up.

after turning them on a lathe, within specs, i came in after first session on the track. cracks were more pronounced. every hole had at least a minute crack. every one. had to get new stock rotors and bearings on there asap.

in racing circles the generally agreed policy is don't drill. just slot to clean the pads and allow pad gasses to pass.

yes porsche still drills rotors. that doesn't mean it's the best way to go though. there are benefits, and flaws to drilling. i think porsche and ferrari do it for the wow that looks cool factor too.

ford still sells shitty cars too. that hasn't changed my mind not to buy their car either

IIRC, the FSP Solo National winner (or at least contender) driving Scirroco had cross-drilled rotors; but only to reduce unsprung weight.

Ferrari- EVERY vehicle uses them, even the TRACK enzo.
BMW- Well, the M5 uses them, as does the M3 GTR V8, a TRACK CAR.
The list only grows longer.
Porsche big reds brakes, MEANT FOR TRACK USE ONLY, with track only pads, you guessed it, drilled. I will go with their race proven heritage any day.
You are comparing apples and oranges. The holes in Porsche rotors are not drilled, but cast into the rotors. And even those tend to crack around the holes.
