easy question: Do spindles need to be replaced in pairs?
easy question: Do spindles need to be replaced in pairs?
Like the title says. I know the strut and spindle are one unit, so I thought if the bearings, shocks, springs, rotor, etc. were the same on each side it's be okay. But could someone straighten me out on this?

No spindles/struts don't need to be changed in pairs.
BUT, if your question really is do the front spindle/strut inserts need to be changed in pairs I would say yes just like you would change shocks in a front pair or a rear pair.

However, if you are swapping a spindle becuase it is damaged, you need to either match the correct spindle, or replace as a pair. 79-80, 81-83, and 84-85 had different spindles. I'm not 100% sure if the 84-85 S/GS/GSL differ from the GSL-SE, but they can be interchanged.
