E-fans: Which one's the best?
Was just wondering what everyone else was running and what they thought about them. I'm thinking of buying the one from black dragon auto but was wondering if there are better options out there. I intend to install it on my 83 gs w/ the stock radiator.

Taurus all the way! I think its like $15 from the junk yard. Cut a notch in the bottom corner for the lower rad hose and you are set!

Not sure which is better, but I used a 89-90 model Taurus fan. Clearance can be an issue, but mine worked fine on an 84 12A with AC and PS. I used short self drilling metal screws through the plastic shroud and into the stock side radiator supports. If the screws are too long they can puncture the radiator.

All I know is that it was from a 1st gen MR2. Do a search, and you will come up with my installation writeup. I even took pics, and marked the two holes that need to be drilled in the fan housings for mounting. Mounting is a breeze, just drill those two holes and it mounts right up...

Best bet is a relay and some thermostat control. The Taurus fan draws a ton of juice and would burn out most common switches. Just search around on here and google and see what others have done. In terms of wiring, pretty much all fans are alike.
If you use the Taurus fan, you will only need to wire up the low speed setting. That will be more than enough flow. The high speed setting would be a waste. It would make your alternator work too hard and plus it would suck in small children.

I would believe them to be the same part.
When running the Taurus fan, I have mine set up through a switch on the cabin. I used a 30A relay (for LOW setting, if you are using HIGH use a 50A) and wired it up. Very simple.
As for mounting it, I currently have it held up by 3 screws. Put the shroud over the radiator and you will know where you can drill. I just reused the bolt holes in the radiator, and cut a notch out of the lower corner for the lower radiator hose.
Also, first gen MR2 fans are the same as 6th gen Celica fans.

The 3.8 liter fans are two-speed, while the 3.0 liter fans are single-speed. I think I read that the SHO fans are single-speed as well. Lincoln MkVIIIs and T-birds use the two-speed fan.
