Dynoed the 12AT, time to kill some FDs!

As some of you might remember, i was almost done with the 12AT i have been building for nearly 2 years now.. I have spent everey single day off and almost all my free time to get this thing done. And what do you know? She rewards me with this:

Needless to say, im quite happy with the results, but there is still a lot more to do. First off, we need to raise the redline to 8500-9000 RPMs. Thinking a couple more ponies could be found up there, As the printout shows, its also fairly rich all the way to be on the safe side. Im also just at 16 psi.

We are lucky enough to have 98 pump gas here, so its tuned for it. Soon to come: E85 and more boost!

Engine bay. Looks a little different now, had to make other tanks etc..

Outside, without the hood. Had to be modified due to the intake. I also had to make some vents to let some of the heat out..

Im just done relocating the oil coolers up front, down into a splitter. I had some cooling problems at the track, couldnt get the oil hot enough, and the water cool enough

I also have some videos, but they are on the camera of a friend of mine. And he is on holiday...

Is it an actual 12at motor or a 12a with a turbo?

What port is that?
Engine modifications?

Engine is an actual 12AT, with a 13B centre plate.
Extend ported, race exhaust.
Studded, dowelled and braced in every possible way.
Custom intake with pulse tuned runner lenghts. 80mm TB. Trumpets inside plenum.
Custom exhaust manifold, split pulse. Separate runners to turbo, with two wastegates.
Ceramic seals. Race bearings.
Remote mount waterpump, side mount alternator. Remote mount electric power steering pump.
Light steel flywheel with twin plate 7,5" clutch.
Front mount intercooler.

Thats about it i guess. Nothing fancy, just reliable tested parts.

Yes indeed. Mazda made the 12A Turbo from 82-86. It was available in Japan only, in the RX7s and the Cosmo. It started off with 160HP, and ended up with 165. There were also sold some "licenced" cars trough various dealers around the world, such as the Elford Turbo for instance.

The 12AT has lighter rotors and better housings than the standard 12A, but it has the same front, center and rear plates as the 13B found in 84-85 RX7s. It also has oil injection holes on top of the housings, and lower compression.

I actually bought the car for the front fenders, as i had another RX7 at the time, but since the "parts car" was more solid than the other, i ended up building on this one.

Kill FDs? Are you talking about drag racing? If so, how are you planning on puting that down?

Congrats by the way!

Very nice build and fabrication. That is top notch work. And to think, people put v8's in these cars.
I would agree on the torque numbers look off.

Nice!

The torque numbers look funny because they are shown in N-M (instead of ft-lb), but power is still shown in HP.

I saw this build a while back, and I knew it was going to be good. But Damn. That's just awsome. I know what 400 rwhp feels like in a first gen. I can't imagine 500+. That's just insane.

That's easily twice the numbers I was expecting to see.

No wonder you're so proud, that's amazing.
