I got that set up and i think it cost me like 40 bucks total. I never installed it on my 7, but I did however use it on my pinto, whos gas tank is alot worse. And I cant be happier with it.
No more clogged filters, and if I do get one, I need no tools but my hands to twist off, twist on! Thats what I love the most about it.

Yea, I'm considering doing this. Kentetsu would those filters work upside-down? Im thinking they should be able to fill all the way up and provide more fuel stored.
I can get my hands on the inline plastic ones maybe they'd work better at a downward angle as well instead of the stock horizontal?

Which filters are you referring to? Well, actually I have no idea either way if you could run them inverted. Maybe someone else knows?

we used to use these inline with a fuel hose to empty 55 gallon drums of aviation fuel. trust me when i say they have no problem flowing and i love having the petcock to drain it so i don't get fuel all over myself. not sure how you'd make the adjustment between fuel line sizes though lol

Here's what I did with mine. The tank was reeeeealy rusty from sitting with a few gallons for like 5 years, and while I may eventually put in a new one or have this one fixed at a rad shop, I have a lot of better ways to spend that 100+ bucks (nice way of saying I"M BROKE!!! LOL). So I pulled the tank and rinsed rinsed it with a bunch of fresh gas, shaking it like crazy, dumping it, and repeating. I recycled the gas by pouring it out of the tank into a bucket, then siphoning all but the bottom 1/2" or so back into the tank. This seems to have worked pretty well, and I only used about 2 gallons of gas, so if anybody wants to try this themselves let me know and I'll walk you through the details. I collected all the rust/varnish in a pan, after it dried it was 2 or 3 cups, just to give you an idea of how bad the tank was. The last few rinses didn't get any gunk out of the tank, so I figure I got 90-95% of the junk that was in there out.
Here's my quad filter setup, based on Kentetsu's concept:
I don't have a picture of the final setup, but all I did was stick a little fuel cutoff valve (I think for a lawnmower, same one you see in the second picture) in one leg, so it only flows through one set of filters until they clog up, then you open the valve to keep running until you can put new filters in. I put my tank back in last night, put some gas in, then let it warm up and took it for a nice spirited drive for 10 or 15 miles, and everything worked fine. The glass filter (closest to the tank) caught some visible junk, but the cloth stock-style filter remained clean, and the glass filter I have right at the carb was clean. So for at least a gallon or so of gas it worked fine. I'm hoping I can get a tank or two through each set of filters, gradually rinsing the remaining junk out of the tank. And if the main filters clog up, I have a backup set ready to go at the turn of the valve.
Note that this may not work for the stock fuel pump, I have an autozone pump that most likely has more pressure/flow than the stock pump. I'd just rather abuse a pump that has a warranty

Running fuel lines inside the car like that is a big no no. I highly recommend that you re-route all those fuel lines on the outside of the car somehow. This is a big safety hazard. Especially when you consider all of those crappy leftover stereo wires inside your storage bin area. If one of those things arcs or throws a spark your car is a goner. Hopefully it doesn't take you with it.

I really like this setup. Do you have a part number for the filter bracket, or do you know what it goes on? Some kind of universal product? I'd like to get what you have shown in the picture, except maybe try and find a filter that is a little bit shorter. I really like that spin on fuel filter though. Looks high quality.

Question though, would this style pump be able to pull all the way to the engine compartment? That would be a great place to put this whole setup, but I doubt the fuel could flow all that way just on suction...
And the coat hanger thing will keep the filters well up and out of the way.

I've been running this Mallory unit for for more than 15+ years - the element is replaceable and lasts a LONG time (as in years). It was pricey initially but pays for it self after a few years plus you don't have to worry about any bottlenecking... Its about the size of a Fram PH8A oil filter. I highly recommend it.

really only ran them inside as a temporary measure so I wouldn't need to work out a custom mount for the pump and filters. Believe me, what's inside the cabin is airtight, and if it ever did leak it would be immediately obvious. If anything happens before I relocate everything I figure just turning off the ignition will stop the flow, and hopefully I can get stopped in time to get out before I get hurt too bad.

(Mount it to the Left Rail) and then a Russel 10micron Filter before the Carb.

I change out the Elements about every 15,000 miles in my 84GSL.
