dual exhaust?

I've heard that a single pipe from each rotor gains decent power on the T2 so how about a 12A? I know the turbo has more backpressue, etc. but it might still work. Also, what about a y-pipe dual exhuast? I already know about racingbeat and how good that is but I want to look at different options as well. If I do go dual, I'm going custom reguardless of if there is a out of the box exhaust. And if it matters any, in time, I plan a 20B engine.

I wonder where people hear some of this crap. You do know that a turbo has a single exhaust outlet, through the turbo, correct? Headers on NAs have a seperate exhaust tube from each rotor that may or may not meet somewhere in the exhaust system.

As far as your 20B, keep planning, I see implementation as a very long road.

Interesting sig.

Yep, the exhaust all merges into one on the T2, and then gets split again after the turbo.

And if your doing a custom exhaust with all seperated pipes on a 20B are you going to have 3 mufflers in the back?

Well I don't even remember where I heard that from. the only 7's I've ever had any mechanical experience with is 2 N/A FC's and then all I learned was a few basics. I guess it was kind've a stupid question... sorry about that.

No need to apologize, we all have to start learning at some point. There is a huge knowledge gap between your question and eventually installing a 20B. You have taken your 1st step and you will most likely ask many more questions.

Reading and searching is the key to building a sound knowledge base, most of what you need to know is here, somewhere. Good luck with your endeavor and future projects.

If you want to get a leg up on the the construction/assembly/differences between the series and NA vs TII, the online FSMs link is in my sig line. Happy reading.

Just T, or Prof. T works fine.

Sorry guys, not into the gold thing and too much of a house hermit to get a decent tan. With nearly 200 hours of college credit, I find Prof. more fitting. Odd thing is I was called that in Jr. High too.

Damn, cause I would've found it funny if you shaved your head, got a mohawk, gold chains, and then made your 7 look like the A-Team van. Show of hands, who'd want to see that? I hear a photoshop event with his widebody pictures! (The car, Scott, not you. *L* )

Racing Beat offers a full dual system for the NA FCs. Would the same principles that make that system more efficient still work on the 12a? I was thinking just running dual pipes all the way from the engine back to where the stock exhaust exits (maybe a uncollected header to parallel presilencers to a dual in dual out muffler at the end) Does keeping the exhaust seperate offer any benefits over joining them just before the axle like in the street port system?

Collecting the exhaust at different lengths, or not at all yields different results in the hp/tqrpm curve. Porting changes this also. Years ago RB found that collecting the exhaust at 12, 24, 96 or 108" produced the best results. I don't recall which engine this was or if it had any porting. I believe that data is in the book "How to Modify Your RX7". I have a copy of it, one of these days I'll sit down and read the entire thing.

Thanks for brightening my day, that's the best laugh I've had for a while. As far as the personal appearence changes, I'm quite happy with the ponytail and face fuzz. If someone wants to photochop the widebody, have at it.
