Question drums and shoes question for 81

I switched out my wheel cylinders, shoes, and springs. I also bought new drums.
my problem\question is I can't get the new brembo drums to fit around the new shoes. I can get the older drums that have a ton of wear to go over them but not the new ones. I have already adjusted the shoes in as far as they can go, has any one else had this problem? I'm curious to see if I have to get the drums turned first before they'll fit on. or if there is some other way to get the shoes closer in. Does anyone know? Thanks

make sure the shoes are aligned properly. it will be a tight fit and this is a common complaint. ensure the adjusters are free and greased (threaded portion) and if they are turned all the way in you shouldn't have too much of an issue. make sure you clean and grease the contact points on the backing plate.

push the shoes in at the top, meaning, both ends of the cylinder r pushed in all the way. and the e-brake is down.

What brand shoes did you get?

I'm having the same problem, except it's only on one side, and not even the old drums would fit over the new shoes. I'm hoping it's the just Beck Arnley shoes.

and why is this in the Non-Technical section?

Adjusters, yes, but loosen your e-brake cable adjustment, too...

I had a set of shoes I swore was too large to fit. E-brake cable was adjusted too tight.

Felt like an idiot for about a month.

I just popped into this thread to see if anyone had mentioned that.

its really nice when you see that someone has accomplished something and saved the money from going to a shop. that and now they've learned something about their 7 that they'll never forget!
