VA Driveshaft Swap

I have an 82 with an 85 Posi-rearend and driveshaft. The U-joints are shot, and I am looking for a replacement locally.

I found the driveshaft, but it is out of an 86. Will this fit my car?

I searched the forums, but couldn't find this information.

If anyone is local to Norfolk, va and has a driveshaft for sale, please let me know.

Thanks

An 86 wont fit unfortunately. You will need a first gen manual transmission driveshaft.

Ok Thanks. I found a place on E-bay selling the universal U-joints for pretty cheap. Is anyone familiar with GMB U joints. I dont wanna buy something, and end up with a problem down the road. I have read instructions on how to retrofit the Staked in U-joints, but skepticle if this Modification is trustworthy.

Thanks

This is the one I just bought

GMB Rear Propeller Shaft U Joint | eBay

Is that correct?

It does work. Here is a site that list some that fit. I took my driveshaft to a driveshft shop and gave the the part number and he walked right over to his shelf and pulled them. They charged $100 and put it together. While they had the old ones out I powder coated the driveshaft.
