driveshaft issues

OK I just replaced the uni joints, as I was getting the usual clunk when changing gears and there was play in the driveshaft. When installing them I recall that the spiders weren't centered exactly but I could still fit the circlips alright, but they werent perfectly even on both sides. Driving today I got some vibration above 70km/h and figure the spiders aren't centered, i'll have another go tomorrow with the hammer to try and even them up..

I did swap tires with a mate at the same time so not 100% sure this is whats causing the vibration but it would make sense. also, unfortunately I am still getting the clunk when changing gears, and there is no less play in the driveshaft. have read that it could be the seal/bushing on the rear of the transmission? there was a bit of oil leaking out of the trans after i removed the driveshaft as well

edit: forgot to mention that the old uni joints seemed in good condition, i was suprised, the last time i replaced them 2 of the 4 spider "legs" had shattered :o

Hey mate its luke here =). I just got those wheels balanced before we swapped them on the weekend. Yours seemed to get a little shaky at 140km/h on the way back from brisbane though =) so they will go in for a balance soon. but as for the uni joint, i have heard its a little hard to get it right the first time. i was lucky enought to have a mechanic to help me when i did mine. This maybe a stupid question, but you didnt happen to lose any of the little pins? if not then i cant help you sorry! hope you get it fixed soon

EDIT: if you dont have any luck soon, take it to a mechanic - and my ones looked fine also to me before i replaced them BUT my friend advised me that the "legs" had bad imprints on them from those little pins. hard to pick... but that was the problem with mine.

hey mate that's a good idea.. guess that rules the wheels out as well so the shaft definitely needs balancing. thanks

Take a look here and see if your problem fits into one of these categories. You might have a bad tranny mount or something like that.
