Which driveshaft do I have ? (searched)
One of the guys in our RX club said he had an LSD that was "cherry". I'm going to take a look at it, but I need to know if it will fit my car. I've got a 1982 S
I know that the driveshaft and flange changed in 1983, then the axles got bigger in 1984. When I look at that differential is there anything I can measure to confirm the year? I searched and I know it's the bolt pattern, but does anybody have pictures of each flange?
Here's from the parts catalog:
So, I assume a round yoke = 1982
however, this is what I've got
I just snapped that under the car, but I'll need to take a closer look to see if there are any c-clips on the u-joint.
How do I know if I've got a whole 1983+ rearend? I still have drum brakes. The rest of the car is from 1982, I don't have a beehive oil cooler, and I just replaced the radiator and it fits from that year.
I just took a look at the Haynes manual, and they've got drawings of servicing u-joints on round and square yokes. No help there. Can anybody please clue me in?

hmmmm, okay. thanks. Looks like the I'll have to look for a more rectangular end for my car, where the newer end has square patterned holes.
The guy who's selling has an FD and not too familiar with FBs. All he knows is that it's "from a first gen." And he's not selling the FD

Those crappy pics from the parts catalog give a valuable clue. 79-82 uses bolts that thread into the flange, while 83-85 needs bolts and NUTS, as the flange is not threaded.
