driect fire question

ok i have read about hooking up msd... and was wonding if this set up would work

2 msd boxes and 4 coils

1st msd box you hook up to the wires where the leading igniter ues to be..than you hook the msd box to your coil run jumper wires to the other coil..and thos 2 coils hook to your leading spark plugs..

2nd msd box you hook up to the wires where the trailing igniter ues to be..than you hook the msd box to your coil. run jumper wires to the other coil..and thos 2 coils hook to your trailing spark plugs..

ok this is just a very fast run down of the install. as i didint think i need to type ever detail

you would have 1 coil per spark plug...you woudlint need the cap or the rotor button..

if you can hook the leading up like this i dont see why you couldint do the same with the trailing... comments plz

Can't do that. If you fire trailing together, one trailing plug will be firing into the incoming mixture too soon. It works for the leading becuase of the position. The other leading plug fires into exhaust, so there is no harm. You can use the 2nd MSD box to fire trailing and run through the cap. Honestly, trailing contributes so little, I don't think adding an MSD to it would be worth it. The only nice thing about the MSD on trailing is if both boxes are 6AL so you will have a rev limiter.

To do a coil on plug setup on trailing, you need a way to determine engine position (sensor on the main pulley or something). You then need a circuit to select the correct coil to fire.

possible alternate

It may be possible to set the trailing to zero, remove two lobes from the reluctor, and fire one dual outlet GM HEI coil with the L ignitor and the second GM HEI coil with the T ignitor. Both plugs in rotor ! would fire together and both plugs in rotor 2 would fire together. This may not pass emmissions and might pick up a few HP.
Anyone want to try it?

That could work. You would be stuck with 0 split, though. You would also lose the "late leading" spark.

Trailing isn't worth converting to direct fire.
