draw through to weber blow through. working out the kinks

ok so the turbo went in my BAE kit, decided to go weber blow through and have some concerns.

1. the oil feed line.
the oil feed line comes off a Racing Beat oil filter block for adding mech. gauges. will this supply proper volume and pressure to cool a turbo? where are you turbo guys getting your supply of oil from? and what size line are you using?

2. the return line.
it has a custom oil pan with a threaded nipple welded directly above the valley of the pan. will this have enough clearance for oil from the line not to back up to the turbo because the oil in the pan covers the return port?
should i drill and tap the front cover?

any help would be great. thanks.

as for your question about the oil supply, pressure I would say yes, volume I can't speak to. remember that the same site measures your oil pressure so it would be the same. If you don't think this will give you enough volume I know that atkins rotary has modified oil filter pedestals that they use to give oil feed to their superchargers

Drill and tap the front cover. I used a 3/8 -10an fitting. i just shorten the stock oil drain n welded a mail -10an to it. i heard u need it to drain over the oil level.

The oil feed location will be ok. Most aftermarket turbo will not do too well if the oil supply gets over 75-80 psi. You will probably need a restrictor in the oil supply line. As far as the oil return line, put in in the front cover. Make sure the line is perfectly level or heading down from the turbo to the drain hole. Don't ever run the oil drain into oil pan on a rotary engine. The oil will not drain properly out of the turbo.

I found a good place to buy AN fittings is http://www.redhorsedirect.com/pages/notice.html. I bought some off eBay at a decent price and noticed that I could buy them direct from the manufacture.

I like to make up my own steal braided hose. Something that helps is using the Koul Tool and a set of 1 1/16 rachetting wrenches. I like using these over the aluminum wrenches because they don't slip and because they use plastic inside the ratchet they don't mare the connectors.

i figured it wasn't draining properly. the turbo always got way hot, and eventually the seal went.

would the car smoke if the oil was not draining fast enough? or was that just a tired Teflon seal?

Yes. If the turbo does not have a sufficent drain, or too much oil pressure it will smoke. The oil will push past the seals in the turbo.
