Dowel pin removing?

Ok, I have been working on this thing for a few days, and the past 2 hours. I cannot get one of these dowel pins out. I have the screw that is almost the same thread pitch, but it catches on a little of the first thread in the dowel. Most of the time I can get them out no problem, and if it gives me some trouble I just soak it in some PB overnight. This one is so stubborn!

What are some good ways to get this thing out? I do not want to heat it since there is oil and PB in it... insta-fire.

Help?

Scratch that. I was beating on it repeatedly and thought... maybe it isn't aligned to be pulled out? I put the other dowel in and the bastard slipped out.
