Need help with Double Din HU install for an 85 GSL!

I have searched around and seen many FB's using these head units, and since the factory was a 2.5 din, I dont see why we cant just throw a 2 din in there and call it a day...

My first experience was taking it to a local best buy, where they promptly argued the possibility of mounting one because "Our stereo guy has an FC. He said it would never fit."

SO, I kept searching and im bound and determined that its been done many times with no real mention of the dash kit used to do it. I convinced their "FC Stereo guy" that if I can find him a dash kit that he could do it, and he said he wanted a picture of what it would look like installed (and the dash kit) that he would attempt it.


Thoughts?

 

The Scosche install kit for the FC also works on the 84-85 FBs too. It supports single or double din. Had one in my FC and it fit fine with my old single din stereo. My current setup uses the stock FC brackets, modified slightly to nudge my current double-din headunit up all the way for a 1/2 din switch panel to fit underneath.

My advice is to just get the kit and do the install yourself. I see no reason that it wouldn't work in the same manner as it does on the FC.

 

I cant find a kit from scosche for the FC that says it supports a double din...
