Door Rattling

My drivers side door keeps rattling and wind comes in at the top. It's getting pretty cold these days so I'd like to fix this problem. The closes with a nice click but doesn't seem as tight as it should be. From the outside, I can push it in a little bit, not much, but definitely more than the other side. If I open the door and put a philips head screw driver in the slot and pull it back to engage the lock, it seems to hold about as good as the one on the other door. Does anyone know of any adjustments that can be made? Can the loop that engages the lock (the thing on the door jam, whatever you call it) be moved. The screws holding it down are really on there, so I thought I'd ask before getting medeival with it.

If the air leak is near the top, then start getting medeival with it.Open the door and stand between it and the car. Then grab the upper window channel and pull it towards you until you get a nice bit of movement.Work in stages and slam the door shut many times to test.Be sure the windows will still close fully without issues.
I call it good when the seal contacts and compresses well and my eardrums push in when I slam it closed(all windows and sunroof closed.)A little grease or petroleum jelly on the seal can tell you if your getting full contact all around the door, just look for transfer onto the body jam....

Yes you can adjust the 'striker'. Check to see if the door at the height of the striker is underflush or overflush (at the B pillar) first. Then follow up and down the door to see if the flushness stays the same to see if the door is bent.

This assumes that the hinge pins are not worn (open the door, grab firmly and wiggle) and that the weatherstrip is good.

Otherwise follow door bending instructions above.

Are you sure that this is not just a case of old, worn out door seals?

it could just be that the phillips screw holding your door shut are loose. That is what happened to me.
