door problem?

ok, last night in the pouring rain (sigh, gotta love calgary weather) i shut my door, then realizing i forgot something inside, tried to open it again....no luck...handle just moves up and down with littlw or no resistance...does not matter if the lock button is up or down.....

os i go in through the passenger seat, and try opening from the inside....nothing......sigh.....

so..what did i break..and how do i get the door open to fix it??

thanks forum,

Can you get the door panel off from the inside without opening the door? I haven't tried it myself (my door opens ), but I don't recall any screws or anything that you have to get at when it's open. You should be able to get in there and see what's going on, or at least maybe get to the latch to trip it manually...

Yeah, I think geikiganger is right, i don't remember any external screws that hold the door panel on, so you should be able to get it off, although it won't be easy, 'cause you still have to deal with the retaining clips, but it should be possible. By the way, if you don't have a repair manual, there should be 6 screws (4 in the armrest/handle, 1 at the front, and 1 in the door handle), and you get the clips out by prying behind the panel with a flathead screwdriver covered in tape, or other suitable instrument.

Be careful not to break the retaining clips if yours are made of plastic; but if you have the metal ones it's not an issue. And yeah, it won't be a piece of cake with the door closed but it should be possible.
