My doors have a similar issue to the frozen rollers where the part with the two bumps (the piece that rides on the rollers) has actually worn on its hinge and when the door is opened, the spring shifts the force and the 'stop thing' clicks loudly. I have no clue what to call that piece but I think I made that clear enough... Is there a way to replace that part, or do you just need a new hinge assembly at that point?
I would think you would be hiring a machinist. I have also been looking at countries with RHD Rx7s and haven't found anyone selling left door hinges as of yet.
Huh, looking at RHD cars is a smart idea. Maybe there's another part I should strip from my parts car before it goes off to the yard (unfortunately; it's a bare rolling shell with a little frame damage and a fair bit of rust so no-one really wants it). If I could get the part out, I'd be glad to make a CAD copy of it to CNC, but I'm assuming that you'd have to cut the pin to get it out of there (something I'm not too keen on doing right now).
Do you still have the headlight bucket for the drivers side? or is that where the damage is.
Actually yes, somewhere in my storage. The damage was almost unnoticeable other than that the bumper was slightly dislodged and the radiator shroud was pushed back at least an inch. It's the left front frame rail that's bent, but it must have been a really weird collision because there's practically no other body damage.
In other words, yes, I believe the driver's side headlight bucket is still fine - maybe a little surface rust though, I would have to check.
Yes, I own this pin set already. I have not installed it yet. The part in question is not the pin set but the roller bearing that notches the door in position when it is open to prevent it from falling back into the closed position. This thread's topic is independent of the hinge pin.
