There's a plastic black box under the dash...pretty large. It's bolted in as if it were the first damn piece installed in the car! -VERY difficult to get out. There's a buzzer in the corner of it.
I took the box apart and ripped the buzzer out with a pair of channel locks.

...Try to be more "surgical", and not wreck anything else in there!

Sterling's right. I've actually been trying to get mine to work , but this speaker in that box controls when the buzzer sounds for the 'door-open', 'key in ignition', and 'seat belt switch'. There's also an over-rev buzzer in my 85, but that is on a different circuit and has it's own buzzer.

Where is the chime for the lights left on? Mine used to work, but now I just here the click, click, click of the switch. But no chime.

The chime is on the gauge cluster.
On the left hand upper corner the "lights on" chime is located, and on the right upper corner of the cluster the over rev buzzer is located.

I believe the "low oil" and "low coolant" chimes are the same as the "lights on" one.

I've heard that the cluster is hard to take out, so is this speaker hard to get at, (the one on the left)?
