dont know too much about carbs, so someone help me out

i have researched and read past post on the forum, but i just want to make sure about the info before i buy a carb.

i want to either run a side draft or a down draft carb. i will be running it on a stock port 70's 13b for now but will be possibly swapping it to a street ported 13b(4 port housings with S5 internals).

the do not expect the car to be a daily driver, thats what my POS 4 door accord is for, room and gas mileage. i hope for the car to see some track time, maybe at road atlanta or something similar.

what i have heard is that the side drafts have better torque due to the longer runners and down draft has better top end horse power due to the short runners. thats about all ive got. any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

are you able to boost the down drafts as easily as you can the side drafts? i might decide to go with a blow through setup on down the road, but with a different engine of course. i might just go with a T2 swap. thatd be yyeaarrs down the road though. why down draft over side draft for track use? the peak horsepower advantage?

yea peak power but also they seem more reliable and easier to tune i personally am not a fan of sidedrafts after my bad experience but ehhh, it was probably me. i dunno, but anywho... boosting a downdraft requires a special float that noone seems to make. i remember seanrot went thru alot of trouble with his. it CAN be done tho.

i know, we are negotiating about that thing now. if it gets sold before i get my next paycheck cashed he said hell help me get another carb. thanks for the heads up though.

FB II- thanks for all the info. i might be buying a 83 that has lots of mods including a weber down draft. i really like the way the car drives, but i also havent ever drove a car with a side draft. i doubt id boost the carb anyways. if i go boost ill just go T2 swap. why go if you arent going to go all out?

well, when i do something i do it right or not at all when it comes to this rx7. i was debating going with a t2 swap, but then i realized, if i did that itd be way too powerful for me. the way i am id end up having a car about as powerful as directfreak. thats not what i want from this car though.

when im going to put the S5 internals in im going to send everything off to get ceramic coated and im thinking about running the JHBs OMP upgrade also. not cheap, but like i said, im not going to cut the corners anywhere. ill have all new oil cooler lines. anything i think is important will be new or "upgraded." i still just have to totally decide what i want to do though.

oh yeah i forgot that you had posted in that thread. yeah that would be just about right for a stock port 13b and it also gives you a little room to grow.
