Dont get it?? am I stupid or what?
Dont get it?? am I stupid or what?
My gsl se has badly worn and sticky throttle plates, so sometimes it idles slightly above a 1000 rpm and sometimes right where it should be. When it idles above 1000 it misses really bad, its like I got a damn monster/bridge port. When its below 1000 it idles perfect, dont get it? Anyone have a clue?
clean the intake. upper and lower. that would be my suggestion. the car prob sat for a while and old gas gummed up in the intake.

It'll all get cleaned ported and polished when my new motor gets put in, but im tryin to determine weather or not its a mechanical problem thats causing the irratic idle or a sensor/electronic problem. I dont want to put in my new engine and have the same ******* problem because a wire somewhere in that fat *** harness is corroded.
mine was missing between 1500 rpm to 2000 rpm...what fixed it was adjusting the tps.
rig up the 2 light tester described in your haynes manual, connect it and adjust the tps screw till you see 1 light.
for the surging mine went from 800 rpm to 1500 rpm...replacing all the vacuum lines did it for me. while replacing the vacuum hoses i cleaned the dynamic chamber, throttle body, upper intake runner and fuel injectors.

-SE's are plagued with the analog FI gremlins
Serously, It doesn't take much wear and tear on the mecanical parts, vacuum solonoids, and electronic sensors to make them give birth to some pretty strange idle anomalies. I wish I knew they answer to the problem...

is there any chance of a vaccume leak? I dont know much about FI but the slightest leak in a rubber hose or connection that has come lose is where id start, then try to "de-gum" FI and the intake.
Idle Problems
I have a very similar problem, but it is not consistent. It happens very irregularly and under all sorts of conditions (cold, warm, hot day snowing, raining, dry, night, day etc.). I have changed the plugs and rotor the fuel intake system was recently cleaned out, what is left? How can I check the vacuum lines and where are they located (yep, I'm a real newbie at this)? I've got a shop manual and all but I was wondering if there were any little tricks that some of you RX-7 maintenance Gods might have up your sleeves.
