Does TJs Water Pump Leak...Survey Says:

We dont know! This is pissing me off. When I first started the car this morning after the second go-round of "RTV where gaskets that I cant afford are supposed to go", the damn thing was leaking again. Only a slow drip though. I was desparate to get some food as I was hungry as a ***** and went the 2 blocks up to the Jack In The Box figureing I would just keep and eye on the gauges. Well, I got there, poped the hood and looked. Then I waited. Continued waiting. Waited some more. The damn thing didnt leak one drop after the 2 mins I sat there starring at it . I figured, well cool, at least its not leaking for now. I had to run some errands, so I took off and ran them, risking the life of my engine. Anyway, after 3 hours and 48 minuts of driving around everywhere, highway, city, eveything, the damn thing isint leaking. I have litterly sat and waited for ONE drip, and I have seen nothing. I figure that if it is still leaking its really small and slow so I can kinda keep driving it until I can afford the gasket and Hylomar. Anyway, my best guess is that maybe the silocone got hot and kinda melted and filled in the opening...I dont know. My car was running fairly cold this morning too...Hmmm...

is there any antifreeze left in the system to leak out?

J/K

Sounds like you might've temporarily fixed the problem. Gotta love RTV

Haha, odly enough, no. Its probably 80% water now, I know, I know...Bad. But I couldnt get to the store to buy anymore...Im going today, but im gonna buy the green stuff again, **** this orange ****. I swear to God thats why it started leaking to begin with...Im gonna backflush it again (to get rid of the damn orange), and then put a fresh mix of green and water .

Don't just use any old water for the final fill.

I understand money is tight and all, but spend a couple of dollars on distilled water from the grocery store. Its ok to use tap/hose water to flush it, but if you use that water in there with the antifreeze it will leave scale inside the radiator and motor, depending on how hard your water is of course.

One gallon of distilled water from the store is about $1.25
