Does Hawk HP+ all around cause rear-wheel lock-up?

FB 1985 12A with rear disks.

Is there a big performance difference between Hawk HP+ pads all around and HP+ up front and OEM in the rear?

Most braking is done by the front so I would like to know if putting HP+ pads in the rear would be overkill or not.

Or maybe HP+ up front and HPS in the rear would be a good mix?

well, I've got an -SE so it might a little different. I started with the HP+ on the front only and they always locked up 1stand gripped lots harder than the rear...

I'm going with the same on all 4 when I get some time to put the rears on.. I'll let ya know the results, but it's pretty commonly the way to go.

Run the same all the way around. You can always install an adjustable brake proportioning valve. $39 from Summit - it's made by Wilwood.

David, how did you adapt the metric fittings? Any pics of your installation? Tips?

FB's already have metric brake fittings ??

I would presume its just the same as replacing brake lines ... pipe up to it as per the instructions then flare the fittings onto the pipes and tighten them up

I just got it a few days ago. I haven't had time to install it yet. Fittings are never a problem though. Easy to get them here in Atlanta. I got the **** type - it was much cheaper. Blake recommended that I go with this one. He is going to help me install it and tweak it.

my GSL-SE locks up the rears often and I just rely on my front brakes to keep the car under control, and I've got OEM pads on the rear at about 30% !

The last time I did brakes on the 7, I got the cheezeball special, $20 per set brake pads... Made by a company called AutoSpecialty...

They come in a gold box...

Anywho.. I put those on all around... Didn't even turn the rotors. They locked up all four wheels no problem on dry pavement, at about 45 MPH, with brand new B.F.Goodrich M65 Control T/A tires on the rear, Some half worn Kelly Chargers on the front.

Somehow, I don't think it's just performance pads that're gonna cause your brakes to lock up...

So does mine. Have to be a little careful when jamming them on in a turn.

You're not meant to brake IN the turn

Brake fittings on a proportioning value - Cut the line and flare the lines using SAE fittings.
