Does first gen tech need an additional moderator?
After having been on the forum for several years, my experience is that it is very well run compared with other forums I visit. Sometimes a thread goes off at a tangent but I can only remember about four occasions when the thread went seriously wrong. This has varied from childish insults by a newbie against a very helpful 'senior' expert, the other was the recent episode. This could have been killed without moderator intervention but several members endlessly pursued the point. OK it could have been moved to the lounge but it mindlessly was kept going fortunately only at the loss of dignity of the thread author. Confession. I was momently tempted to see the offending video!
Being a moderator takes time and knowledge. Vipernicious and RX7Carl have done brillantly and I thank them for great work. If they think assistance is needed, then I would go with his opinion and support an additional moderator. Based on the past I would say Trochoid would be a great moderator so it depends on whether he has the time and opportunity to take on a 24 hour a day commitment. Often when I am stuck in the wilds of Asia I am the only one on the forum as the great majority of forum members are sleeping peacefully protected from terrorist threads by the Department of Rotary Security.
Perhaps we could devise a simple test, each moderator candidate has to respond to a simple request. " I have just bought a 79 SA for $200, how can I put in a 13BT and what would it cost me here in Alaska? It's very rusty, what color should I paint it to make it look faster than a Civic?"

RX7Carl is a mod.
The last line of your "Test" should read, "what color should I paint it to BE faster than a civic".
Thanks, the other Paul.

I dont' think that we need *another* mod, we just need the current mods to get up off their lazy asses and do some actual moderating!

I've been a bit busy at work lately, database servers crashing and all, but I'll make the effort to be a little more vigilant.
