Question Does This Come Off With The OMP Too? *PICS*

Hi Again Guys,

I am just a plethora of questions here lately, so here goes another one. I have removed the oil metering pump and am prepared to run premix, but after looking through some more threads here I saw that someone mentioned removed the OMP "drivegear and shaft." Needless to say I had no clue what they were talking about because everyone else says just take off the OMP, make a plate and bolt it on. So that is what I did. Behind my blockoff plate is this thing which still moves freely inside.

Is this the drivegear? If I leave it in there and block it off is it gonna blow something up? I just want to make sure I'm doing this right. If the rotating thing has to come off how do you get it out of there??? Thanks in advance guys!

To remove it you have to take off the front cover and drive out the spring pin that retains the gear to the shaft. Prolly wouldnt hurt anything to leave it on though.

So if it stays in there and gets blocked off its not gonna blow up the inside of the engine or blast off the blockoff plate? I'd hate to tear up the insides of my perfectly good engine because I'm too ignorant to do a bonehead modification like take off the OMP. Haha. Thanks Carl....

Hmm... I still haven't found out any concrete evidence about finishing this OMP removal. Can anyone verify for me if this thing needs to come out of the front cover or not? What does it do in there, just spin around? Wouldn't it still be pumping oil while its blocked off? I don't understand...

Not that I don't fully trust Carl's advice....

Well with the OMP removed it wont pump anymore, but it will se engine oil pressure there. My only concern is that the drive shaft might wear a hole in the block off plate. Someone helps this guy!

Use a hard metal plate there. It's just a quick fix though. Still better than aluminum.
