I believe the honeycomb wheels are the optional '79 alloys. I have a set on my '79, and they are unlike any other RX-7 rim I have seen yet. I don't have a digital camera, so a picture is out. They look quite attractive in a vintage kind of way, more so than the standard waffle style. The plus style is my favorite though.

I believe that I have the same wheels on my 79' as you. Not exactly sure where they came from. I don't think they are very attractive either but, at least they are 14" rims instead of 13's.

wheel pics.
Thought I'd post a couple of pics to help clear up any confusion. The first is a 1983 Limited Edition wheel. These are the only 14" factory wheels for 1st gens.
They are called "snowflake" wheels.
The second is the 13" "waffle wheel" which came on SA models, and uses a longer lug bolt.
Hope this helps clear up any confusion, I'd still like to know what the "honeycomb" wheels are. -WG

what about the ohh wo wanted honey comb wheels. I have a set fo them and they are 14. and i thought they came out stock. I only need a 79 limited wheel then i would have one from every style.i really need to put up picks of my current wheel selection but the only ones i will part with are the plus ones cause i have two full spare sets.
