does anyone know if the 03' mazdaspeed protege shift **** will fit a 1st gen?

i think ive decided im going to go with mazdaspeed as my choice for interior(steering wheel, shift ****, seats, and whatever else). my problem im faced with now is that i want the mazdaspeed shift **** offered on the 03 mazdaspeed protege. my friend has one and i drive it frequently and i love the feel and look of the ****.

what i need to know is does anyone know if one will fit on a fist gen, SA or FB? i think ive read that the thread pattern may be different for different first gens, but im not sure about that information. i thought about an adapter into the shift **** to get my desired thread pattern but i dont know if thats even available. i also thought about rethreading my shift lever, but i dont know how to go about doing so without having to cut my stick, which i dont want to do.

any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Talk to Jorx81 about getting a short throw shifter made and just send him the the **** and he'll do it.

I had mine sent back to me since USPS blows when it comes to reading my handwriting. So I have to send it back out when I have money in my paypal again.

youre looking at around $60-$70 from what ive seen. they have them for sale at corksport. i know where a wrecked MSprotege is so i think i can get a much better deal, if not. im willing to pay that price cause i like it so much.

He'll make anything for anything.

What I was going to order (just waiting for more money, so if you see this Jorx, don't be pissed at me) was a ball end thingy that will fit in an 81-88 tranny and the lever to fit whatever threading my shift **** was. It'll run you $100 shipped.

He's a great guy to work with over IM. I wish I could give more feedback, but I was just fired today and I spent all my money restoring the car. I wish I got an extra 100 for christmas. I was counting on it for this lever.
