I was actually wondering if anyone makes a carbon fibre drive shaft... I'm triing to reduce all rotational mass to a minimum. Wanna get my revvs up a bit higher.

if you want a lightweight driveshaft, mazdatrix sells one. if you're close to ohio, i have three and i'd be willing to sell you one. you could pick it up or i'd ship it to you.

Last summer the shaft in my 83 started clunking, so I installed my spare shaft, and noticed that it's a little wobbly too. Next time I'll use a $225 shaft from mazdatrix.

Check and see if you have a company called DriveLine Services in your area. They are Nationwide and Build Custom Drive Shafts.
I had them make a Drive Shaft for my 84GSL and other RX's they used Yokes Front and Rear for a Chrysler 400. No way to break those puppies.
I can slam all gears to 4th and in 5th I hit 140 easy with no Vibes anywhere.
They also give you a yearly rebalance if needed @ no charge ie Lifetime Waranty.
3 out of my 6-1st Gens have had this upgrade.
Only have the 84 left but all new in and out.
I found the reciepts for the all the cars done and the most I paid was $255.00 on 4-23-05 which is for the RX I drive now.
I looked into the MazdaTrix one and that is the Route I would have gone if I did not know about DriveLine.
Have Fun Go-In Round & Round!
