Do i have to remove e-shaft pulley?
Do i have to remove the e-shaft pulley to install a new water pump? My car came fitted with AC.
If it has to be removed, is there a trick to holding the pulley still whilst i remove the nut that holds the pulley?
Help please.

If you double nut the studs if you can, you can pull the studs out, and you should be able to slide it off, but yeah it has to come off, but there is only one way it can go on, so it's pretty idiot proof.

Make sure that you put the dist up on TDC by aligning the pulley mark with the front cover mark. then mark the bolt location that corresponds.
The reason for this is that the pulley can be put back on 4 different bolt locations and if you don't mark and put it back correctly. The next time you pull your dist for any reason and line up the marks the timing will be off and the engine will not start. This is one of the biggest mistakes that is made when changing the water pump out.
As far as the e-shaft pulley. If you would of pulled that (which there is no reason to) and not followed the correct procedure you would be doing alot more to that engine than the water pump.

I find it easiest to break the 4 pulley bolts loose, then line up the timing marks, then remove the belts. As doc stated, DO NOT disturb the large nut in the center of the pulleys. You can use the large bolt to line up the timing marks, it won't break loose doing that. The last/rear pulley tends to get stubborn, just tap around the edges to loosen it.
While you have the main pulley off, repaint the timing marks.

There is no need to remove the entire pulley for a water pump changeout. The w/p housing wont slide out due to the pulley extension for either A/C or P/S. All you have to is unbolt the 3 out of 4 10mm bolts and let the pulley extension hang loose.
Also, be aware that there are shims between the water pump housing and engine. These are located in the top studs and are very very skinny. If you loose them, 100%, you will have a leak. If for some reason that they are lost, you can use "aluminum foil" (kitchen stuff so its free) as spacers.
