Do I feel like a bone head? Yes

I need some advise. My original 79 SE was in desperate need of a Carb overhaul. So after reviewing this site, I contacted Carl and had my carb sent off for rebuild by the best. I recieved the carb back last week and was very please with his work. While I removed the carb I came up missing one of the four nuts holding down the carb. I assumed I had dropped it and it was now residing in a dirty mess under the carb. Rather that root through the dirt I secured another nut and commenced to bolt the carb on and hook it all up. I got this all done and even replaced all of the vacume hoses so that I hopefully could eliminate any leaks that might occur from the 29 year old hoses. Well, everything was going smoothly and I decided it was time to start the engine and tune it. To my surprise the car started and immediately rattled and the stopped. My heart sank and then I remembered that missing carb nut. The engine is now seized and won't budge. I'm about 99.9% sure I know where that nut went; down the intake manifold.

Questions:

Any way this engine is not damaged beyond repair?

Where is a good source for replacement 12A's?

Please give me your thoughts pro and con.

Kris

Kris, Removed the V8 questions. Better left for the correct forum.

As far as how much engine damage, don't know.
Could of destroyed a housing or rotor or both. Won't know until that engine is torn apart.

Since its potentially wrecked, time to tear it apart and see whats left. Then determine which route you wanna go (rebuild or v8)

Happened to a friend of mine many years ago, dropped a washer into a dragster boinger. As a consequence I've been super careful about parts ever since.

At harborfreight I got a telescoping light that has a magnet beside the light. Has a pocket clip, cost about $10. Very useful.
