distributor?

Well I finally got the starter to crank the engine over and the engine started for 2 or 3 seconds then stalled. I've tried over and over again to get it started again but nope it won't happen. I pulled the fuel line and when I crank the engine it pumps a good but of fuel and it seems under good pressure. So i then pulled the the wires on the distributor and corrosion just poured out. It looks horrible. but I checked the spark coming off the coil and its good but all the wires running to the spark plugs and corroded really bad and when I pulled the wire off the spark plug and I don't get shocked while the engine is cranking and that damn boot is too deep to try to see any spark. So what do you guys think will this make it not run at all? I thought it would just run like **** but nothing except for that 3 sec stint. Its funny because it hadn't been started for like 8 months before that 3 seconds.
Thanks

That sounds about right. Get a new cap and rotor, then test the spark by inserting a screw driver into that boot and hold it about a quarter inch from one of the strut tower bolts. You might want to grab some new wires and plugs while youre at it. About $50 later you'll get to drive your car.

Also make sure you haven't flooded it by trying to start it with no spark.

I may have flooded it. I cranked the hell out of it. What should I do about that? and is the 12a distributor same as the 13b distributor? I have a good 12a cap.
Thanks

While i was trying to crank mine after it had sat for 3 years, i had the trouble with flooding also, so i took out the drivers side storage bin and spliced into the fuel pump wire and put a off on toggle switch on it to stop the gas from flowing after one or two attempts to start, so i knew that it would not flood,,and then when all was working well i drilled a small hole inside the console and attached the switch for anti theft reasons,,,goes about 200 yards b4 all the gas is used up,,,,great for overnight stays at places your not sure of,,,,,,,,good luck,,,,
