Looks similar to mine.Carbon fiber tape might be tacky or considered cheap, but there are so few good condition surrounds out there, and silver is just too bright for me.....

So you just laid it on, heated it up and formed it around the surround? How hard was that?

The process is called Photo-Lithographic. They take the part and dip it into a weave pattern resting on top of the solution, and dip it straight down. Then, they put automotive quality clear coat it.

When compared to REAL Carbon Fiber, you cannot tell the difference until you smack it to see it's density.

The process wasn't cheap (at the time), about 80 cents per square inch, and it does by overall dimensions. So if it is a hollow piece (just the edges) you will pay for the whole thing like if it was a solid piece.

By the way, this is EXACTLY how "fake" wood trim is done. They usually work for dealers with the CF look, and in Wood Trim for the large yachts.

If you look up on the net on "Wood Interiors" and the like, you might find a company that would do it cheaper for you.

I can pick fake CF in a second, the weave has no depth to it.
If someone could make a template out of thin sheet metal and send it to me I could whip some REAL C/F items up in twill weave which looks a lot better than the plain weave
