well are you rich if so i will give a different answer,
if not here ya go,
go with the msd blaster 2 coils,
make sure you get the ballast resistor to go with them if you chose to run your stock system.
you can pick them up at a local perf shop like scamchargers.
the should have the blaster 2 coils w/ ballast right next to the regular blaster 2 coils,
the ballast cane be taken off if you decide to upgrade your ignition system.
so that means you can also buy 2 used blaster 2 coils and mount the ballast to them.
now for mounting msd says not to mount them horizontally,so you will not be able to utilize the stock locations,
i didnt follow the rules and mounted them in the stock locations and havent had any problems, its been about 3-4 yrs cant remember when i bought them exactly.

Indeed, why? I just swung back to the direct-fire path. I'm glad you made that observation before I spent my refund monies...thanks!

8krpm is not enough
Ok, I'll add my fuel to the fire.
I've been running direct fire for a while now, first the poor man's version that Jeff20B suggested, and since my ignitor finally seemed to not want to work that way, I put the MSD 6a box in that I'd had sitting around in the garage for a year.
The move to direct fire was noticeable, but not groundshattering. The car started easier, idled steadier, backfired alot less, and revved cleaner and quicker. Wonderful, nothing like a happy-easy-revving rotary
When the leading ignitor finally started giving up the ghost (wouldn't rev past 4 grand in gear) I threw the MSD 6a on there. Instant improvement (duh), but it really didn't improve much over the direct-fire setup I had when the ignitor worked ok. I have yet to re-set my timing but if you've got an MSD box lying around, why not use it? At the very least I'd say "go direct fire" on way or another, I noticed about a 1-2 MPG increase in gas milage, so in the end, the coil and bits pay for themselves sooner or later
Oh, the rotors in a 13B/12A are offset so that one's rotor tip is dead center to the other's rotor face, so that when the leading plugs fire, one fires into a compressed mixture and the other into the exhaust stroke at the trailing edge of the mixture as it passes the plug. This shouldn't hurt the engine at all, in fact this is where the lower emissions / "2nd gen sound" comes from.
All in all, I like it, I had the parts, so I said why the hell not, this Free MSD box is cheaper than a new ignitor

That's it!! Now I'm totally sold! I'm salivating at the thought of running my buddy's GSR again after he barely took me by half a fender. It was the bottom end where he got me and I couldn't catch him even though I shift at 7800 and he claims 7000...he was barely pulling me after the initial loss at the line...I figure that with direct-fire, side cut plugs and MMO, I've got him...
