Differential Oil...

okay here the thing ive searched and searched before posting another thred on this but every one that i read it all seems too damn confusing for me... when i bought my GSL-SE last week i knew i needed to do a complete fluid change and tune up. So far i have only done am ignition tune up which is NGK BR9EQ14 spark plugs, Cables, Cap and Rotor, air filter. all i need left to do is change the motor oil with Havoline 20w50 and havoline filter( my dad gave me a case of the stuff last year and still have lots to go round), change the tranny oil and LSD oil. my question is what weight/brand do i use for each. my dad tells me use Amsoil 75/90 for both. but i cant find amsoil and i know that its expensive when there are others that are just as good and cost less.

I'll say again what weight gear oil should i use and what brand. i bought one quart of Mobil 1 Synthetic 75/90 so far and before i start this procedure i want to make sure im doing things right

I would use royal purples max gear oil. Its what I have been using. well accualy there hole line of stuff. I also used that stuff that they say use on rebuilds for breakins. syntethic is the way to go through. But I have seen some cases where a syntechic made a LSD act wierd. I think it was because it was used to conventional oil. I am not sure if anyone else has heard of this besides me. Just brought that up to make your decsion harder I guess lol.

As far as changing it I would drian it fill it with some elcheapo synthetic run around in tha car for about an hour and then drain again and put in the good stuff but that is just me. that is also what I do when I change my motor oil.

Hope this help.

Amsoil is good. I use Redline myself. 75w90 is a good weight too...

Just make sure you either use somthing that has a LSD additive in it, or add use a normal gear oil and add an LSD additive yourself...

It should say somewhere on the bottle if it already has it. If not call and ask the company
