Different series' exhaust headers. Are they different?

I looked at a 79 in a junk yard today, and the header looked wierd. Just a large round thing with a pipe comin straight out the back. It had no heat sink fins, and no heat shield. I've never seen the stock header on a series 1 before, so is this normal or aftermarket? It looked nothing like the square thing on my series 2.

If it is aftermarket, what type is it, and would it be worth it to buy it and bolt it on my 82?

I said the same thing in your NW section post, but I'll say it again so I can look smart.

Thermal reactor. An ancient form of emissions control?

They ditched it with series 2, and replaced it with an all cats setup. Unless I'm an idiot, which wouldn't surprise me.

OK. The way you said it here makes more sense to me than the way you said it in the NW section. You may be be right just this once. Thanks.
