Difference between se AFMs?

A fellow purchased the AFM (unit attached to the air box, I assume its an AFM or MAF) from my 85 se for use on his 84 se. Is there any reason it would not work? I assume they are the same part? I'm asking because he says his appears different than the pics I have sent of mine.

if you unbolt the afm to airbox adaptor then does it look the same?

there was only 1 part number for 84-85... yours looks right BTW
