Did I ruin my rotors?
I was looking through my Haynes manual last night and saw a picture of someone cleaning up a rotor. The caption said something like "be careful to not damage the soft material along the edges of the rotors". In the area between the side seals and the outer edge of the rotor there was something that looked like built-up junk, so I took a scotchbrite chucked into my drill and removed it. Did I ruin my rotors? I'll try to get some pictures tonight.
Thanks,
Rich
Thanks,
Rich
oh boy, not a good idea to get wacky riled up.
possibly, depends if / how much material you took off the engine rotor.
many people clean with degreaser and a nylon brush, but that's a much lower speed contact.

ouch, you can probably still build it, but it will not have that safe guard when the side seal compreses all the way it will be metal to metal. The engin would most likely have a desent life span. ( I have never built a engin with rotors like that, this is just what I would think)
P.S. Port it BIG so you have a motor last 15,000 miles anway...
