Thumbs up Did a dry run today!

Whats a dry run you might be thinking!. I assembled the half bridge im building today with no seals instaled, everything went together pretty easy. The only part that sucks *** is lifting the E shaft to get the intermediate housing on. Everythings clean and ready to go back together, did I mention cleaning all those tension bolts really sucks also!. Now I can order all of my seals with my tax refund!. THE BRIDGE WILL LIVE VERY SOON!

Think that intermediate is bad? Wait until you got the apex seals in there, and the corners go PING down into the coolant holes through the block... Save some trouble, get some super glue and glue the corners... In effect making them 1 piece, this will hold up maybe a total of 2 seconds in the running motor, and wont pose any problems. ITS A TON easier to put together like that... Drove me NUTS, then I called Mazdatrix and he said you super glue them ? I said NO, he said LOL try it

Tell me how that halfbridge turns out man. I'm seriously considering doing one in the future. It sounds like a good idea. More power than a streetport and a longer engine life than a full bridgeport. Plus you can use the steel apex seals right? I don't want to rebuild the motor every year and a half with carbon seals. And you probably wont need all those racingbeat hardend parts for motors that rev to 10,000. Good luck!

Well it depends... my steel apex seals only lasted 23k... carbons would actually have lasted longer. I'm seriously thinking of using carbons in my next build.

That's cause you overrevved it right? Would steel seals last in a halfbridge? Would carbons be streetable?

I suppose it all depends on what you consider streetable. Personally as long as the engine makes enough torque at low RPM that it will hold some sort of an idle, I'm good for it on the street. (A rough 2000rpm idle still counts as "idling" for me ) Other people might not like losing any low-end torque. You should see the whiners in the Single Turbo section who complain "Oh this turbo sucks, you don't get full boost until like 4500rpm" Well BOO HOO, we don't get boost at ANY rpm and somehow we manage to live...

OK time for my medication, or something...
