Dellorto question

i have a dellorto dhla48 on my gsl-se. in gear, whenever i press down on the gas my air/fuel ratio guage shoots to lean then back to rich. is this normal??? i forgot if this happens in nuetral. this thread https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=163641 juss remined me to ask that question. im sure it doesnt matter if its in gear or not.

also, how should my air/fuel ration guage read when im at idle, cruise, and freeway. as far as i know, at idle, the guage sould bounce around stoic and rich. at cruise, it should be the same as idle. on freeway at full throttle, it should go all the way to rich. is this correct???

btw, im usin autometer afr guage

Just a guess here, maybe you accelerator pump jets are clogged, or too small. I believe they deliver a short burst of fuel upon initial acceleration.

Make sure your pump jets are aligned properly - the holes on the jets need to be lined up with the ones on the carb. The way to do this is to adjust the thickness/material of the washer (gasket). The ones the come with rebuild kits often don't work - you need to go buy a bunch of different gasket paper types and try different stuff until you make some washers that work. The screw needs to be tight or else the pump jets will leak, but it needs to be tight just when the holes line up.

Of course I'm not saying this is the case on your car - just that it's an important adjustment - apologies if you already know all about this.

thanx for the info. prob the accel pump jet. when i first got the dellorto, it was leakin fuel out of the accel pump gasket. i juss changed the gasket and left everythin els on the carb as it is. im juss gonna tear down the whole carb and rebuild it. carb was a mess when i first got it. i cant complain though, i got the carb 4 free at a local junkyard.

What size idle fuel jets? What size chokes?

If this is happening when you just tip in the throttle whilst at a standstill, you just need larger idle fuel jets. They control the progression circuit.
