Question Dash Swap

I made this post a couple of weeks ago but when the site crashed my post dissappeared. I am wondering if I can swap my 83 dash for a 84 or 85 dash without modification or if if I have to mod something what do I need to mod?...Any info will help a lot.......Thanks

that's very difficult. The dash of a car is the most complex fitting of hoses, electrics, wiring harnesses, and sharp metal lurking inside plastics in your whole car.

If you're up for it, I'm sure it can be done though there will be some components (like dash subframes) designed to fit 84-85s specifically

You'll need the wiring harness.

ive seen a few of them, i think you need everything, the dash (it comes out complete), you need all of the ducting, and maybe more.

According to Magnus, the ducts won't fit.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to use my 82 dash in my Project 82, because I want defroster ducts. I'll keep the 85 car complete for now.

sub frame is all the same, as far as the side A pillar mounts and top of the firewall etc.. But you gonna need everything, the blower box, the heater core and box, etc.. In my opinion this is a waste of time, why make the car appear older? Why not buy a older FB to start with?

Well It did fit.. (not the ducts but the dahs) You'll have to cut a few of the old mountings but I got my in place..
The only thing I see as a problem is that I changed the whole intrerior AND electrical system.. Did not keep a thing from the old 81 parts...
Just connecting the 84-85 dash to the pre 84 elctricals .. hmm.. not worth a try!

I think I have some images of fitting the dash somewhere..
