I believe the clock got upgraded as well...my '81 has a regular analog (hands) clock and the '83 that I'm scavenging from has a digital, BUT I'm pretty sure the electrical hook up is the same.
As for the rest of the electrical, I've pulled the entire wiring harness from the '83 and did a graft job just forward of the firewall and all my dash stuff works, so you should have no problems there.

I thought the digital clock only came in the GSL for a while, but then it occured to me that mine was a GSL and the balance/fader joystick was where the clock goes. So if it was a GSL, there was no clock. Anyway, I converted mine to a clock, but I couldnt find a damn digital clock, so Im using the analog (I still want the digital though ). Also, yes the wires are the same. Mine didnt even come with the clock and the wires are all there. Im sure that most if not all the cars from the same series have the same harnesses regardless of options. Ever wonder why theres wires for the auto tranny? So most if not all the parts should swap out. I have a center radio surround from an 81 in my 83, but neither car had the original stereo, so I dont know how the console would differ for the different stereos. I modified the one I got to take a standard single DIN stereo anyway. I do know that on the GSL there was a graphic equalizer where th pocket goes, and a balance/fader control where the clock goes. Then, on other cars, there was a tuner in the standard spot, but some had a tape deck where the pocket goes.

Anyway, sorry if Im just confusing you. The cutouts in the plastic should all be the same, what changes is what went into the cutouts, as far as I know
