Dash lights on and off

Hey guys,

My dash lights come on and off randomly, usually only in the mornings. Are there any common problem areas that I should investigate first?

first off what year is your 7? next, do the lights illuminate intermittently when the lights are switched on or off? is your problem occuring over bumps or at idle or driving on various graded pavement?

Thanks, should have included that info.

It's an '85 GS. When the lights are in the on position, they seem to go off randomly and then back on. It doesn't appear to do this over bumps specifically. It is just really random. It is the same either while driving or at idle.

I'm not at home right now but I was going to try this. Should I expect to see at least 3 wires? Which colors do I short out?

Older ones are just two wires. Just disconnect from the **** and short A to B.

84-85 have a short pigtail with three wires ending in a plug. Red/green comes from combo switch protected by a 10 amp fuse. Fuse is third from back (rear of car) on the left side of the fuse box. Red/blue goes to lights. Black is grounded. Jump Red/green to Red/blue to bypass rheostat.
